We believe in buying less and enjoying longer. A process of sustainability that starts with us creating considered, timeless pieces that are built to last, and ends with you, caring for them for years to come.
To reduce micro-plastics leached from synthetic materials, we focus on the finest natural fibres, which can biodegrade at the end of their life cycle. Our preferred fibres and materials are ecologically and socially progressive to align with global sustainability standards, each sourced through a transparent chain of custody starting at the root: the farms.
Our fibres are then thoughtfully crafted into their final forms and delivered to you with the highest care for the environment—from utilizing low-waste cutting methods and upcycling leftover materials to using OEKO-TEX® certified non-toxic dyes.
Egyptian cotton
Our namesake fibre and the root of our brand: long-staple Egyptian cotton. From day one, we’ve sourced our cotton directly from smallholder family-run farms in the Nile Delta and Faiyum, Egypt, where the nutrient-rich soil creates the perfect environment for cotton growth.
Finer, softer, and stronger than any other cotton in the world, long-staple Egyptian cotton’s extra-long strands make for the creation of thinner, silkier yarns, which are more resistant to breakage, fraying, pilling, and wrinkling. It’s why the fibre is locally known as “white gold.”
Linen
Linen is one of the oldest known textiles in the world, with strong ties to Ancient Egyptian civilization. Known for its moisture-wicking ability, linen has wide, lengthy, hollow fibres, which allow linen sheets to absorb up to 20% of their weight in moisture before feeling damp.
These loosely woven natural fibres are also what keep linen so breathable. They allow air to pass through and not stick to your skin, keeping you cool and dry during the hottest of temperatures.
ECOTEC Cotton
The yarn we use for all of our Fine Knit pieces, created from a mix of certified cotton fibres (BCI or GOTS) and pre-consumer clippings. In other words: production waste from weaving and knitting companies. The production process to create an ECOTEC yarn emits 46.6% fewer greenhouses gasses, expels 46.9% less energy, and uses 61.6% less water.
